Happy new year, everyone! We at ALA TechSource want to thank all of our readers, customers and supporters for helping make 2010 a great year for us. We're looking forward to 2011, and wanted to give you a preview of what to expect from us on the blog, in our publications, and in our Workshops this year.
The ALA TechSource blog will continue to be the place to go for insight and perspective on the latest library technology trends, library automation industry news, and the transformation of the information world. In 2010, we added guest blogger Andromeda Yelton, and we look forward to incorporating more voices to increase the scope and variety of diagloue here on the blog. Although we faced the tough loss of Michael Stephens as a blogger at the end of last year, the rest of our phenomenal team will continue their great work in 2011.
We're excited about what 2011 has in store for Library Technology Reports. We've got a great slate of writers and topics for this year. Here's what's coming:

Finally, 2011 will be our first full year of ALA TechSource Workshops. After we launched the series in 2010, over 1,000 librarians took advantage of the opportunity to get hands-on learning experience with experts in the field, and we're happy to announce that we'll have even more to offer in 2011. Slots are already filling up fast for our January Workshops on Library Analytics with Char Booth and Paul Signorelli and Integrating e-Books and e-Readers into Your Library with Sue Polanka. Here's what we've got scheduled so far this year:
- January 20th and 27th: Library Analytics with Char Booth and Paul Signorelli
- January 25th and February 1st: Integrating e-Books and e-Readers into Your Library with Sue Polanka
- March 9th: Making Mobile Services Work for Your Library with Cody Hanson (Registration will open soon)
- April 13th: Gadgets in the Library with Jason Griffey (Registration will open soon)
- May 11th, May 18th and May 25th: Using RDA: Moving into the Metadata Future with Karen Coyle, Chris Oliver and Diane Hillmann (Registration will open soon)
- June 8th: Building the Digital Branch with David Lee King (Registration will open soon)
Stay tuned to the blog for announcements of future workshops--there's a lot more to come!
